A passenger sparked widespread outrage on social media after accusing a pilot of physically attacking him at Indira Gandhi International Airport in India over a queue dispute.

The incident occurred when the family, including a four-month-old baby, was directed to a staff-only lane to ease their passage through security.

While waiting, some staff members and the pilot allegedly cut the line, prompting the passenger to object.

According to the passenger, the pilot verbally insulted him as “uneducated,” and the disagreement escalated into a physical assault. He shared a photo showing blood on his face, stating the attack happened in front of his seven-year-old daughter, causing trauma to the family.

He added that he was pressured to sign a letter agreeing not to pursue the matter to avoid missing the flight and losing approximately ₹120,000 in bookings.

The passenger questioned why he could not immediately file a complaint, warning that CCTV footage might be lost. Police confirmed no formal complaint has been received yet but assured legal action would follow once a written report is submitted.

He described the incident as “highly disturbing,” noting its impact on his wife and children. The confrontation began at the security checkpoint where the family was directed to the staff lane. The pilot allegedly verbally abused and then physically struck him during the screening, while his wife reportedly overheard prior threats.

Although the injuries were minor, the passenger said the incident left his daughter fearful of flying.

The airline condemned the pilot’s behavior and confirmed he has been temporarily removed from official duties pending investigation. The airline clarified that he was traveling as a passenger on another carrier at the time and reaffirmed its commitment to professional conduct.
