The rising star, Lin Ashraf Al-Awad, added a new achievement to her sports career and Jordanian taekwondo, winning the bronze medal at the 6th edition of the 2026 Arab Taekwondo Championship.
Hosted by the United Arab Emirates, the tournament concluded yesterday, Monday, featuring intense competition and participation from top Arab athletes.
Ambition Beyond the Podium
Al-Awad, representing the Professional Taekwondo Academy, competed in the junior (G1) category under the 59 kg weight class.
The young Jordanian athlete showcased her technical and physical skills throughout the matches, securing third place and stepping onto the podium with a composed performance and persistence against her opponents.
In post-tournament statements, Lin expressed her overwhelming happiness with the achievement, stressing that the medal was the result of months of hard work and rigorous training.
She added, “This win is deeply meaningful for me personally and for taekwondo in Jordan. It motivates me to continue striving for gold in upcoming tournaments.” She also thanked her family and the Professional Academy for their continuous support, which was crucial in reaching this level.
A Step Toward the World Stage
Coach and mentor Laith Al-Saqour praised Al-Awad’s performance, noting that the tournament is officially recognized by the international federation and classified as G1, giving the victory added value in international rankings.
Al-Saqour emphasized that these results represent a strategic milestone in preparing promising athletes to represent Jordan at major Arab and international events, stressing the ongoing work to develop the next generation’s skills and elevate the Jordanian flag in the Olympics and future world championships.
With this podium finish, Jordanian taekwondo reaffirms its leading position in the Arab region, continuously producing young talents that keep Jordan among the top competitors in this martial sport.
