Jordan’s national para teams wrapped up their participation in the fifth West Asian Para Games, hosted in Muscat, with a standout achievement that reflected the athletes’ determination and the advanced level reached by Jordanian para sport.
Al Nashama secured 14 medals of different colors—eight gold, five silver, and one bronze—leaving a strong Jordanian mark amid fierce regional competition.
Powerlifting: Total dominance and a strong return
In the powerlifting arena, Jordan’s champions confirmed their customary superiority. Paralympic star Omar Qarada captured gold in the 49kg category, proving his continued reign at the top, while Tharwa Al-Hajjaj claimed gold in the over-86kg division with authority.
Silver medals followed through Asmaa Issa (79kg), Mahmoud Al-Malkaoui (97kg), and Yaman Al-Mawahreh (52kg), further boosting Jordan’s rich medal haul in the event.
Athletics: Hindi and teammates strike gold
On the track and field, the Jordanian flag flew high above the podium. World champion Ahmad Hindi delivered a dominant performance, winning three gold medals in shot put, discus, and javelin.
Runner Mohammad Al-Mahdi added two more golds in the 800m and 1500m races, while Nasser Al-Muqabla secured gold in the 200m. Khaled Abu Nahlah contributed a silver in the 400m, giving Jordan’s athletics team the largest share of medals in the campaign.
Historic presence in boccia and badminton
Achievements extended beyond traditional sports, as the Games marked Jordan’s first-ever Arab-level participation in boccia. Haneen Al-Majdoubeh surprised rivals with a silver medal, while Laith Zayed earned bronze—signaling a promising future for the sport locally.
Badminton also recorded a notable debut through Musab Al-Tawalbeh, who reached the podium twice, claiming silver in doubles and bronze in singles, underscoring the growing technical investment in these disciplines.
With these results, the Jordanian delegation returns to Amman carrying a collection of accomplishments, reaffirming that disability is no barrier to ambition and that Jordanian para sport continues to establish itself as one of Asia’s strongest sporting forces.
