• Returned to screens after 13 years of absence

• Spent hiatus in charity work and gaining life experiences

Taysir Fahmy returned to the screen after a 13-year hiatus, marking her comeback to the world of acting since her last TV drama Bef’el Fa’el in 2012.

She surprised fans by announcing her return during an appearance on a TV program, affirming her continued passion for acting and her desire to select roles suitable for her and her age.

Fahmy revealed during a rapid-fire Q&A segment: “The biggest mistake I made in my life was leaving acting for 13 years. Returning to acting isn’t in my hands—stopping was a choice, but returning isn’t, and the world has changed. But if I’m offered a valuable project with a beautiful role that fits me and my age, I will accept it.”

She explained that she spent her years away engaged in community and charitable work, describing the period as rich with human experiences that left a profound impact on her life: “I had decided to take a pause, and suddenly the years flew by. The charitable organizations and life took me into serving people, and I couldn’t return to acting.”

Fahmy also reflected on her artistic beginnings: “I entered the Cinema Institute without planning to work professionally in the arts. The main thing was to satisfy my passion, hobby, and love for acting, because the work is in God’s hands. My start was with the film Lovers Under Twenty, in the National Theatre Ala Bab Al-Futuh, and on TV in Birds Without Wings.”

Her last television drama was Bef’el Fa’el in 2012, starring alongside a cast including Tamer Hegress, Tarek Lotfy, Mirna Waleed, Ragaa El-Gedawy, and Yasser Galal.

The series followed the story of Abir, who uncovers her husband’s betrayal as he becomes involved in activities against his country after fleeing with loans, forcing her to inform the authorities to track and expose his treachery.
