Handcuffed hands

Police in India’s Bengal state arrested a man after his plan to sell his wife’s kidney for 110,000 rupees (around 1,200 dollars) was uncovered.
The victim said she was convinced by her husband, Kartik Chakraborty, that she was ill and needed medical treatment, while he was planning to sell her kidney.
She explained that preparations for the transplant had already begun at a private hospital in Kolkata.
Police confirmed that the husband, who works in pathology and resides in Nandakumar in Purba Medinipur district, had entered into an agreement to receive 110,000 rupees for the kidney.
Authorities said: “Four people have been arrested in connection with the case, and investigations are ongoing.”
Police are currently investigating who facilitated the transplant arrangements and whether a larger network was involved in the plot.
