Woman Sentenced to Life in Prison After Lethal Injection Kills Actress Cindyanna Santangelo

The Los Angeles County Superior Court has sentenced Libby Adam, a woman from California, to 15 years to life in prison after being convicted of administering a faulty injection that led to the death of actress Cindyanna Santangelo.
The sentence follows the jury’s conviction of Adam on second-degree murder charges in October, according to the Los Angeles Times. Santangelo, who appeared in TV shows such as “Married” and “Crime Theater”, passed away at the age of 59 last March, shortly after receiving a silicone injection from Adam.
Practicing Medicine Without a License
Judge Sam Ota ordered Adam to be held without bail and barred from requesting a new trial before sentencing, after the jury voted to convict her following deliberations that lasted more than a day on October 9.
Adam, 55, was also convicted of practicing medicine without a license for injecting Santangelo with silicone oil, which caused a fatal arterial blockage, according to the prosecution, which relied on exchanged messages between the two women, as reported by ABC 7. The defense claimed that Adam had not performed the procedure herself and had only provided consultation, but the evidence proved otherwise.
This is not Adam’s first conviction for a similar crime. She was previously found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in 2024 for administering a lethal silicone injection to a young woman named Carissa Rajbol in 2019. Her daughter, Alicia Galaz, was also sentenced in the same case. Adam served three years in that case before being released on schedule.
