Police found a woman restrained and abused in the backyard of a home in Texas, after her former friends held her for months because they “didn’t like her anymore.”
Law enforcement responded to a distress call and discovered the woman handcuffed to exercise equipment outside the house.
She showed signs of injuries from prolonged restraint and reported being held captive for several months.
According to the official statement: “Due to the condition of the restraints, officers had to cut through heavy metal links to safely release her.” She was immediately taken to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Police investigations indicated the involvement of multiple individuals in detaining and assaulting her.
According to a recent affidavit reported by a local newspaper, the suspects allegedly starved the victim, kept her restrained, and shot at her with small guns before police found her.
The affidavit noted that she was screaming for help while handcuffed to a punching bag stand.
The woman told investigators she had been forced to stay outside for weeks and was punished if she tried to escape. She was found with severe injuries, including open wounds, scratches, swollen wrists, missing flesh on her hands and feet, BB gun scars on her body, and a battered face.
Doctors at the hospital confirmed the injuries were consistent with prolonged restraint.
The victim explained that she had been close friends with one of the women in the house and visited often, but said: “One day they decided they didn’t like me anymore and no longer allowed me to leave.”
The report added that the suspects admitted knowing the woman for years, that she had lived with the family for nearly a decade, and that some of them acknowledged keeping her in the yard and preventing her from leaving.
