- Bee attack triggers panic among livestock in Turkey
- Falling herd into valley leads to major animal losses and injuries among herders
A swarm of bees in Turkey’s eastern Iğdır province caused panic within a large herd of livestock, resulting in a stampede that left 816 animals dead and five people injured, according to local authorities.
The herd of sheep and goats was moving from Hakmehmet village toward Ağaver summer pastures when it passed through an area containing around 200 beehives.
The bee attack triggered widespread panic, causing the animals to rush forward and fall into a valley beneath an irrigation canal, leading to trampling and severe losses.
Five people were also injured in the incident and taken to Iğdır State Hospital for treatment, while an investigation has been launched to determine the full circumstances of what happened.
