Chef Omar’s wife surprises the public by revealing their true origins

Noor Obeido caught her followers off guard after being targeted in a social media backlash following her husband’s comments about the situation in Syria and his remarks on freedom of expression.
In response to the controversy, Noor clarified the matter via Instagram Stories, confirming that she is of Iraqi origin and that her husband is Palestinian from Gaza, not Syrian as was rumored.
“My husband is from Gaza”
In her post, she wrote: “My mother is Syrian from Damascus, which is why I have a Damascene accent. My husband, our children, and I all hold British citizenship, and my husband’s origin is Palestinian from Gaza.”
She added: “We no longer talk about Syria. Warm greetings to my beloved country Iraq, and greetings to my husband’s homeland Gaza.”
“Proud of our roots”
Noor concluded her message saying: “I have never claimed to be Syrian, nor has my husband. His grandfather lived in Syria only, and his origin is Palestinian, and we are proud of that.”
Chef Omar’s statements had sparked significant controversy after he posted a tweet criticizing both the former and current Syrian regimes, saying: “There is no real freedom, and no change reaches the people,” prompting some Syrians to launch a wide-ranging campaign against him, accusing him of betrayal.
It is worth noting that Chef Omar Abou Labdeh was born in Damascus in 1991, began his career in local kitchens, and later became a globally recognized culinary star, followed by millions on his channel “CHEF OMAR شيف عمر”.
