The proposed updates also include smart notifications, such as suggesting the activation of disappearing messages to reduce media accumulation over time, as well as the ability to remove unused language packs that may consume storage space without real need.

The app also displays a detailed list of all chats, groups, and channels, categorized by storage usage, allowing users to quickly identify the most storage-consuming items and make decisions about them.

As part of future development, WhatsApp plans to add new tools including filtering status updates and showing the contacts that most frequently share them, making it easier for users to manage this type of content more efficiently.

The app is also working on a dedicated feature to clean status updates more quickly by prioritizing them in cleanup tools, helping users free up storage faster than before.

These features are still under development, and will be rolled out gradually in future updates after testing is completed, as part of WhatsApp’s ongoing effort to improve user experience and manage in-app resources more intelligently.
