Egyptian director Amr Salama confirmed that he has taken legal action against a production company after it failed to meet its contractual obligations on one of his artistic projects, without revealing the name of the project or the company at this time.

Salama issued a statement on his Instagram account, saying: "To all respected entertainment journalists and concerned parties, due to repeated questions about a project that was halted and not completed, I would like to share what I can for now, until I am able soon to reveal all the details and present the evidence and documents related to the case." He added that a full discussion of the case will take place once the law allows for the disclosure of details.

“Poor Reputation”

The director pointed out that he and his team are taking all legal and judicial measures, in addition to filing professional complaints against the production company, describing it as “of poor reputation” with a history of judicial convictions. He explained that the company has violated professional norms and breached its legal obligations, deliberately deceiving employees and causing harm to their financial, moral, and creative rights.

Amr Salama emphasized his confidence in the integrity of the Egyptian judiciary and the role of the Film Syndicate in protecting artists’ rights, stressing that his legal position is solid and that he is confident of achieving fair solutions that restore rights to their owners.

He concluded his statement by apologizing for not being able to disclose the details at this time for legal reasons, while assuring that he will reveal all the facts soon.

Warning Against Unreliable Companies

The director issued a clear warning to fellow artists, producers, and distributors, urging them to exercise caution when dealing with certain unreliable companies, pointing out that some institutions use deceptive and illegal practices that could result in financial or moral damage, as well as wasted time and effort.
