  • Wife and her lover arrested after husband found strangled
  • Crime discovered following blood stains and bruises on victim’s body

Police in India’s Andhra Pradesh state have arrested a woman and her lover following the death of her husband by strangulation in a case that shocked local residents.

Investigations revealed that the victim, an onion trader from Chiluvur village, returned home on the evening of January 18 after a long day at work, where his wife had prepared a biryani dish containing around 20 sleeping pills.

Police indicated that the wife was involved in a romantic relationship with a male colleague and viewed her husband as an obstacle to their affair. She conspired with her lover to first poison and then kill him.

According to investigators, the victim ate the meal and fell asleep due to the sedatives. Around 11:30 p.m., the lover entered the home and strangled the victim with a pillow while the wife assisted in carrying out the crime. He then left the house, while the wife remained watching the body through the night.

In the morning, the wife informed relatives that her husband had died of a heart attack. However, the relatives noticed dried blood around the victim’s ear and bruises on his body, prompting police intervention.

Medical autopsies confirmed that the cause of death was strangulation, leading to the arrest of the wife and her lover. Authorities continue to investigate the full circumstances of the crime.
