The deteriorating health of Iraqi artist Maimon Al-Khalidi, whose artistic career spans nearly five decades in television and theater, has sparked widespread concern and sympathy across social media.

Al-Khalidi recently faced health complications that confined him to bed, prompting the Iraqi Artists’ Union to closely follow his condition.

A delegation from the union visited his home to check on his wellbeing, with photos showing him receiving the visitors from his bed.

The images were posted on the union’s Facebook page, accompanied by messages wishing a speedy recovery to the artist, who left a distinctive mark in television and theater and performed a variety of roles throughout his career.

Maimon Al-Khalidi was born in the city of Diwaniyah in 1950 and studied at the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad, later earning a master’s and doctorate in the 1980s.

He began his artistic activity in theater during the 1970s by joining the Popular Theater Troupe, participating in numerous plays that earned multiple honors.

He also worked in radio, appearing in many serials and radio plays, in addition to taking on varied roles in television productions and participating in some cinematic works.

Among his most notable television works are Beit Al-Tin, Abu Al-Tayeb Al-Mutanabbi, Saif wa Dukhan, Al-Asma’i, Souq Al-Jawahir, and Al-Siab, while on stage he performed in Mukashafat, Al-Zilal, Al-Zunuj, and Al-Istirad.
