Nicola Dickinson, from Wiltshire, UK, said her husband Martyn Dickinson had advised her to stop entering luxury home prize draws because she "would never win in a million years."
But the couple are now celebrating after winning a home in the Lake District, featuring a lake, wooden jetty, sauna, hot tub, and gym.
Nicola, 59, added: "I've been entering the draw for four years. Martyn kept complaining to me to stop, but I loved supporting amazing charities even if I didn’t win. But winning has shown exactly why I never listen to him, and thank goodness I didn’t – we’re now millionaires."
The new home comes mortgage-free, with stamp duty and legal fees covered, and the couple can choose to live in it, rent it out, or sell it, while also receiving £250,000 in cash (around $305,000).
Nicola said she "didn’t believe it" when she was contacted about the win.
The couple live with three children and three grandchildren, and have been in the same house in Swindon for 30 years.
She added: "We’ve worked hard our whole lives, not just for ourselves but for our family, and this win changes everything for all of us. We look forward to supporting our children and grandchildren and giving them the best possible start in life – the win feels like a generational legacy for our family."
