- Preparations "escalate" for Asia summit in Saudi Arabia
The Jordanian national Olympic team under-23 drew with their Uzbek counterpart 0-0 in the friendly match that brought them together on Saturday in the Qatari capital, Doha.
This encounter comes within the intensive training camp that the "Nashama" are holding in Qatar, in preparation for entering the finals of the Asia Cup, scheduled to be held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia next month.
The match against the Uzbek team represented an important physical and technical test for the national team’s technical staff, as Uzbek football is distinguished by strength and speed, which the coach sought to exploit to measure the players’ readiness and apply tactical schemes under pressure.
Despite the lack of goals, the match witnessed high competitiveness and tactical discipline in the national team’s defensive lines.
The team is scheduled to continue its daily training in Doha, as it awaits another "heavyweight" friendly against the Japanese team on the first of next January, a match that will serve as the "final rehearsal" before heading to Saudi Arabia and declaring full readiness for the continental tournament.
Nashama’s journey in the "Challenge Group"
The Asian draw placed the national team in the first group alongside Vietnam, Saudi Arabia (the host), and Kyrgyzstan.
Nashama will begin their continental journey by facing Vietnam on the sixth of next January at the secondary stadium of King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.
After that, the team will face a highly anticipated match against the host, the Saudi national team, at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium, before concluding the group stage against Kyrgyzstan.
The system aims for the champion and runner-up of each of the four groups to qualify for the quarterfinals, increasing competitiveness from the first whistle.

The technical staff finalized a list of 23 players representing the elite young talents in Jordanian fields, namely: Abdul Rahman Suleiman, Murad Al-Falouji, Salama Salman, Ali Hujbi, Mohammed Al-Shatti, Jaafar Samara, Arafat Al-Hajj, Ahmed Ayman, Mohammed Taha, Ayham Al-Samamera, Ahmed Al-Maghribi, Abdullah Al-Munais, Saleh Freij, Hashem Al-Mubaydin, Saif Suleiman, Youssef Qashi, Ouda Al-Fakhouri, Moamen Al-Saket, Mahmoud Dheeb, Amin Al-Shnainah, Anas Al-Khab, Khaldoun Sabra, and Bakr Kalbouna.
