Next Session Requires Ahmed Al-Asir’s Attendance “Fadl Shaker May Receive Reduced Sentences or Large Fines”

Lebanese artist Fadl Shaker is set to face his first public trial session on Monday at the Beirut Criminal Court, regarding the lawsuit filed against him for allegedly attempting to kill an individual by shooting in the city of Sidon, southern Lebanon.

Shaker had previously undergone a preliminary interrogation before Judge Bilal Al-Dannawi on October 22. However, the upcoming session requires the presence of another main defendant in the case, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Asir, who is currently detained at Roumieh Prison.

Al-Asir’s medical condition may lead to a postponement of the session if he cannot be transported, although judicial sources confirmed that any delay would not be in Fadl Shaker’s favor.

It is worth noting that photos circulated last Saturday showed Al-Asir being transferred from Al-Maqassed Hospital back to prison, with media reports indicating that his health is stable. However, no official confirmation from the prison has yet been received regarding his transfer to the court.

Legal experts suggest that the case could allow Shaker to receive reduced sentences or substantial fines, especially since previous prison sentences were issued due to his absence from court sessions and failure to turn himself in, which could provide an opportunity for him to improve his legal position by surrendering to the court.
