  • Mother accused of killing her children extradited from the UK to the United States
  • She stabbed and shot her two children

British authorities have announced the extradition of the American mother from Colorado, Kimberly Singler (37), accused of killing two of her children, from the United Kingdom to the United States.

Singler faces charges related to committing the assault in Colorado before fleeing to London, where she was arrested in December 2023.

The accused challenged her extradition in the Westminster Magistrates’ Court, claiming that the potential penalty if convicted would violate European human rights laws; however, her request was denied.

The Colorado District Attorney confirmed that Singler has returned to the United States and is now in custody without bail, with her court appearance expected soon.

District Attorney Michael Allen stated that the accused faces two counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder, three counts of child abuse, and one count of assault.

During her extradition hearing in London, the court heard that the alleged crimes occurred amid intense custody disputes with her former husband.

Prosecutor Julee Smith explained that Colorado Springs police responded to an emergency call at 00:29 local time (06:29 GMT) on December 19, 2023, regarding a home intrusion.

Upon the officers’ arrival, her 9-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son were found dead, and a blood-stained handgun was discovered on the bedroom floor.

Smith stated that DNA tests were conducted on the handgun and a knife, revealing mixed genetic material matching the children and Singler.

The third child, whose name was not disclosed, was found with a severe neck injury, transported to the hospital, and survived.

Smith noted that Singler blamed her husband for the incident; however, investigations showed he was driving a GPS-tracked truck in Denver, providing what the prosecutor described as “a complete and verifiable alibi.”

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Adrian Vasquez, Chief of Colorado Springs Police, said Singler’s extradition represents “an important stage” in the investigation, adding: “I know these actions have deeply affected the community, and our hearts go out to the victims.”
