Turkish authorities have detained two residents of the Ataşehir district in Istanbul, following allegations that they were involved in slaughtering horses and selling their meat inside a warehouse.
Local reports stated that teams from the Istanbul Police Department and the Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry began investigating after receiving complaints about horse slaughter at a warehouse on Mimarsinan Street in the Yenisehri neighborhood.
The teams obtained permission from the public prosecutor to raid the warehouse, where the first suspect was apprehended.
During the investigation, the suspect claimed that another individual was responsible for slaughtering three horses inside the warehouse, denying any personal involvement. This led authorities to arrest the second suspect and transfer him to the police station.
It was revealed that the second suspect has a criminal record including charges of animal theft, burglary from homes and public places, and intentional harm. Authorities continue their investigations to uncover all details of the incident and take the necessary legal actions.
