A 17-year-old teenage girl died after falling from a cliff while taking photos at Moffat Beach on Australia’s Sunshine Coast.

Authorities said emergency teams were called around 6:40 p.m. on Saturday following reports that a teenage girl had fallen near a lookout on Queen of Colonies Parade.

The girl was found in critical condition with severe head injuries and died at the scene.

Police added that another woman sustained minor injuries while trying to assist the girl before paramedics arrived.

Acting Inspector Peter Hocken explained that a group of teenage girls had been watching the sunset and climbed over the railing to get a better view and take photos.

He added that as they tried to return from the slope, the 17-year-old slipped and fell approximately 30 meters onto the rocks below.

He noted that her friends and some bystanders provided immediate first aid, describing the scene as extremely shocking.
