Social media platforms have been buzzing in recent hours with videos showing Dutch MP Esther Ouwehand walking inside parliament wearing a shirt bearing the colors of the Palestinian flag, amid widespread support from those standing in solidarity with the Gaza Strip.

Users on the platform “X” shared clips of Ouwehand walking through the Dutch parliament in the now-viral shirt, and she was also seen delivering a speech inside parliament wearing the same shirt, in a move that clearly demonstrated her support for the Palestinian cause.

Defiance without concern Esther Ouwehand stood tall and unbothered by the arrogance of the occupying forces, who were expected to launch attacks against her later, at a time when international efforts to recognize the State of Palestine are accelerating, particularly with the United Nations General Assembly set to convene next week in New York.

Although around 150 of the 193 UN member states have already recognized Palestine, support from major global powers carries particular significance from a Palestinian perspective. Historically, many European Union countries, especially in Eastern and Southeastern Europe, have long recognized Palestine, including Hungary since 1988. Spain, Ireland, and Slovenia also recognized the Palestinian state last year.
