A horrific crime shook Jerash Governorate after security forces discovered the body of a man inside a two-meter-deep pit in a wooded area, following a report of a fire at the site on September 18, 2025.

The media spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate explained that firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze, only to later find the body. It was transferred to the forensic department, which confirmed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound. A special investigation team was then formed to uncover the circumstances of the incident.

Investigations led to identifying a suspect whom the victim had approached to collect money owed to his employer. After the suspect was arrested and interrogated, he confessed to shooting the victim and then burning the body in an attempt to conceal the crime. His motive was to avoid repaying the debt and to mislead the employer by claiming he had already settled the debt with the victim, who then allegedly disappeared.

The spokesperson added that the murder weapon was seized, and the case has been referred to the Public Prosecutor at the Grand Criminal Court for further investigation and legal action.
