The spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate stated that a report was received by the Jerash Police Directorate on September 18, 2025, regarding a fire in a forested area in Jerash Governorate. The fire was extinguished, and the body of a person was found inside a two-meter-deep pit. The body was transferred to the forensic department, which determined that the cause of death was a gunshot wound. A special investigative team was subsequently formed to follow up on the case and uncover its circumstances.

The spokesperson confirmed that, through investigations and information gathering, the team was able to narrow suspicion to a specific individual, whom the victim had approached to collect money owed to him by the employer of the deceased.

The spokesperson added that, after the suspect was arrested and interrogated, he confessed to killing the victim by shooting him and then burning the body to conceal the crime, in order to evade repaying the debt owed to the employer for whom the victim worked. He claimed that he informed the employer that the debt had been paid to the victim and that he did not know the victim’s whereabouts afterward. The firearm used in the crime was seized, and the case will be referred to the Public Prosecutor of the Grand Criminal Court.
