Wafaa Amer: "I have been subjected to great and unjustified injustice" Wafaa Amer: "The judiciary will have its say"

Egyptian actress Wafaa Amer broke her silence to respond to recent accusations linking her to what has been labeled in the media as the “organ trafficking case,” firmly denying the allegations.

Amer, speaking in a phone interview on a TV program, said that what she has been subjected to is a blatant attempt to damage her reputation and exploit her name to harm Egypt’s image.

“Defaming my image”

She stressed that she has faced “great and unjustified injustice,” accusing certain parties of deliberately seeking to tarnish her reputation. She added: “Dragging my name into such a sensitive case like organ trafficking is nothing but an attempt to destabilize Egypt and discredit its institutions. If it weren’t for my name being involved, there would be no case to use against the Egyptian state.”

Amer emphasized that circulating such allegations through media and social platforms without evidence or legal investigations amounts to an unjustified attack on public figures and state institutions, calling for the issue to be addressed with seriousness and responsibility.

Call for cautious media handling

She underlined that dealing with such a sensitive case requires caution and professionalism, away from media sensationalism, pointing to the need for scientific and medical proof in the case of late footballer Ibrahim Sheka, who died after a battle with cancer. “There will be a judicial word on this matter, and it will not be overlooked. Egypt is greater than such lies. It’s better for specialized doctors to discuss these cases and for Sheka’s final medical scans to be presented to the public,” she said.

Humanitarian work without political motives

Addressing her humanitarian activities, which were used as grounds for launching accusations against her, Amer affirmed that she will not stop helping those in need: “The good I do stems from my culture and personal convictions, with no political or personal agendas. I will only stop if an official order prevents me, because I am not seeking to become a member of parliament.”

Cancer caused Ibrahim Sheka’s death

Amer reiterated that footballer Ibrahim Sheka passed away due to cancer, which had spread rapidly in his body during his final days. She noted that it was Sheka himself who reached out to her for help covering treatment expenses. She explained that she immediately responded to his request, collaborating with doctors inside and outside Egypt, who confirmed that his condition was already in an advanced stage with no chance of recovery. “He sought me out because he knew I would help him,” she concluded.
