Wide campaign against banned substances in Turkey Hassan Jan Kaya gained fame with his satirical program "Al-Mutahaddithoon"

Turkish police arrested well-known comedian Hassan Jan Kaya (36) early Saturday as part of a wide campaign against banned substances targeting celebrities in media, entertainment, and social media over the past months, shocking his fans and followers.

Kaya is known for his satirical show "Al-Mutahaddithoon", which he presented years ago on YouTube, achieving great success that led TV platforms to compete for broadcasting it.

Turkish media reported that the campaign also targeted other social media celebrities, all facing charges related to: "possession and use of banned substances or stimulants" and "facilitating the use of banned substances".

The detainees are expected to undergo medical tests including blood, urine, and hair samples before the investigation continues, and then be released unless the prosecutor decides to detain some of them.

This is the latest wave of arrests in the case of banned substance use among entertainment, media, and social media celebrities, some of whom have already been convicted in previous cases.

Since last October, Turkish police carried out several night and early morning raids on the homes of accused celebrities, with some investigations leading to additional summonses, and positive results were confirmed in samples from some of them.

The show "Al-Mutahaddithoon" relies on satirical dialogues with a diverse audience hosted in each episode, before delving into discussions about their personal lives. The program achieved great success on TV platforms and social media, with short clips of the satirical dialogues widely circulated in the world of short videos.
