The head of the Egyptian Musicians’ Syndicate, Mostafa Kamel, announced the death of the popular singer Nasser Saqr, who left a significant impact on his audience, particularly among ordinary people, through songs that expressed their dreams and everyday problems.

Saqr had been battling cancer for three years. His health had temporarily improved, but it rapidly deteriorated in recent weeks.

His Words Close to the PeopleNasser Saqr excelled in performing mawals, offering lyrics that were close to the Egyptian people, addressing changing circumstances and the betrayal of friends with a touching, human approach. His most notable songs include Mat‘almish Albi, Al-Qalb Ya‘shiq Kol Jameel, Al-Nufous Al-Da‘eefah, Qasa Al-Sahab, Al-Mawled, and Ehna Al-Rigala.

His creativity was not limited to singing; he also acted, participating in the film Mohamed Ali Street and the comedy sitcom Rest House.

Earlier, artist Helmy Abdel-Baqi revealed via a video on his official Facebook page the deterioration of Nasser Saqr’s health due to his illness.

Poet Salah Atiya expressed his sorrow on Facebook, saying: “To God we belong, after a long struggle with the cursed disease, the popular singer Nasser Saqr has passed away. May God have mercy on his soul and place his illness in the balance of his good deeds.”
