Arrest Following Official Complaints

According to informed media sources, the arrest came after an official warrant was issued to apprehend and bring in the suspect, based on complaints filed by Rahma Mohsen, who accused her ex-husband of sharing recorded clips without her knowledge or consent, causing her severe psychological and moral harm.

Details of the Accusations

Investigations revealed that the Giza Security Directorate received a report from Rahma Mohsen stating that her ex-husband used international phone numbers via WhatsApp to send video clips and threatened to publish more unless financial sums were paid—an act legally classified as electronic extortion.

Threats to Publish Private Footage

In the same context, the artist’s lawyer filed an official complaint to the Public Prosecutor, accusing the ex-husband of extortion and threatening to release private recordings filmed during their marriage without her knowledge, calling for an urgent investigation and legal accountability.

The lawyer added that following the separation, his client was surprised by attempts at financial extortion, as the suspect demanded up to three million Egyptian pounds in exchange for not publishing the videos or sending them to her relatives and friends, exploiting the trust she had placed in him during the marriage.

Rahma Mohsen is considered one of the rising voices in folk music. Born in Cairo in 1993, she began her artistic journey after working as a coffee seller, before enrolling at the Higher Institute of Music at the Academy of Arts.
