  • She spent a million dollars to look like Fan Bingbing
  • She gained temporary fame but faced many difficulties

A Chinese woman spent about eight million yuan (approximately one million U.S. dollars) on cosmetic surgeries to resemble the famous actress Fan Bingbing, before finding herself forced to reorganize her life after the star’s reputation declined.

Media reports stated that He Chengxi (31 years old), descended from a wealthy family in Shenzhen, southern China, underwent 37 cosmetic surgeries between 2008 and 2016, most of which focused on facial features, with a total cost of eight million yuan.

Chengxi, pointing to a photo of Fan as a teenager, said, "I want to be like her," explaining that she was not satisfied with her ordinary appearance.

Despite her parents’ initial opposition, she insisted on moving forward, threatening to harm herself if she was stopped.

Thanks to the strong resemblance, Chengxi’s name rose in 2016 after participating in a national singing competition, where she was nicknamed “Little Fan Bingbing,” and she obtained minor roles in some film and television projects.

During that period, she was linked to cosmetic surgeon Yu Xiao Chuan, who also underwent procedures to resemble Fan Bingbing’s boyfriend at the time.

The pair were promoted at business events in China as a “copy” of the famous duo, while Yu opened a clinic with the slogan “Turning ordinary people into celebrities.”

The couple married in 2017 and had a child, but Chengxi revealed Chuan’s infidelity, ending the marriage in divorce, with custody granted to the father.

In the same year, Fan Bingbing became involved in a major tax evasion case, resulting in fines and penalties exceeding 884 million yuan (about 122 million dollars), and she was banned from acting in China.

This negatively affected Chengxi, who faced online ridicule, and the artistic projects she was involved in ceased.

In recent years, she turned to working as a fashion blogger and live streamer, currently followed by about 330,000 people online.

She participated in a limited number of drama works in minor roles, after undergoing additional procedures to reduce resemblance to Bingbing.

Her story sparked widespread reaction and major debate on social media platforms in China.
