  • Police investigate singer as death considered homicide

The body of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas was discovered on September 8 in the front trunk of a car registered to David Anthony Burke, also known as D4vd

The discovery came after the vehicle was ticketed in a Hollywood Hills neighborhood and then impounded

According to police, Rivas likely died in the spring, and the singer may have assisted in dismembering and disposing of the body. A source added that Burke has not cooperated with the investigation so far

Rivas had gone missing from her home in April 2024 at age 13 in Lake Elsinore, about 60 miles from Los Angeles. Her body was found after workers reported a strong odor coming from the vehicle

The cause of death has not been determined, but in September the medical examiner’s office said Rivas “appears to have been deceased inside the vehicle for an extended period before being found.” The Los Angeles Police Department is treating the death as a homicide

Burke’s car had been cited for parking violations just 11 days before the body was discovered, after exceeding the three-day limit in the neighborhood. Residents said the car had been parked in the area for over a month

Rivas’s brother previously said the family knew she was acquainted with the singer and that she had been on her way to see a movie with him before her disappearance. Photos later emerged showing her with Burke

Burke, born in New York, is known for hits such as Romantic Homicide and Here With Me. He and his manager were staying at a Hollywood Hills property at the time police searched it

The singer was on tour when Rivas’s body was discovered but canceled his performances following the incident
