1 large onion, sliced

Juice of 2 lemons
Grated peel of 1 lemon

1/2 cup chicken broth or water
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon ginger
Salt to taste
A dash of hot pepper, optional
1 cup fresh thyme
