A major fire broke out on Saturday morning inside Egypt’s Media Production City, tearing through large sections of the specially built “popular neighborhood” set used for filming the second season of the TV series “Beit Baba 2”.

According to initial reports, the incident began with a sudden flare-up of flames inside one of the shooting areas before quickly spreading to surrounding set structures.

Civil protection forces deployed multiple fire engines and managed to contain the blaze, preventing it from reaching nearby studios and facilities. The fire was fully extinguished before cooling operations began.

The incident left three people suffering from smoke inhalation due to heavy smoke, including a police officer, with no fatalities reported.

It also caused extensive material damage, completely destroying the set pieces currently being used for filming ongoing scenes of the drama.

Authorities are expected to review the series’ production schedule in light of the damage, while prosecutors have been notified and forensic experts have been dispatched to determine the origin of the fire and assess safety compliance at the site.
