In frank and emotional confessions, Egyptian actress Amal Rizk revealed harsh personal and professional milestones that shaped her artistic journey, stressing that her entry into the acting world did not come through the traditional academic route, but rather through talent and hands-on experience.
She explained that she had hoped to obtain a university degree within her family, so she first enrolled in the Faculty of Pharmacy before moving to the Faculty of Arts. Later, coincidence led her to the path of art, and she began her career away from the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts.
She also spoke about growing up in Mansoura, noting that the loss of her only sister in a tragic accident left a deep psychological mark on her life and played a major role in shaping her human and artistic character.
Pride in working with major figures Amal Rizk expressed her pride in collaborating with leading drama makers, most notably the late director Ismail Abdel Hafez and writer Wahid Hamed, pointing out that her early career allowed her close exposure to the production world through producer Ismail Kotkat.
“Ahwak” and the comedy experience Regarding her participation in the film Ahwak, she said that her move into comedy came at the suggestion of director Mohamed Sami, adding that the experience helped create a bridge of communication between different generations of viewers.
“No limits”… but with careful choices She noted that several directors describe her as having “no artistic ceiling” because of her ability to perform diverse roles, but she emphasized that she refuses any role that does not match her artistic history.
Six months in darkness Amal Rizk revealed one of the hardest health crises of her life, when she lost her eyesight for six months while filming the series Al-Tabbakh, as a result of severe psychological pressure, before her condition suddenly improved shortly before the month of Ramadan.
She explained that she underwent intensive examinations by neurologists and ENT specialists, and confirmed that actress Nihal Anbar and producer Mohamed Abdel Hafez offered her great support during that period.
She also recalled another health crisis that forced her to appeal through social media after several private hospitals refused to admit her due to the lack of insurance coverage, confirming that the intervention of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi ended the crisis within minutes.
Losing her mother… the greatest breaking point The actress spoke with deep emotion about the death of her mother during the COVID-19 pandemic, describing it as the hardest moment of her life, and stressing that a mother represents life itself and that her رضا (contentment) is the key to blessing and salvation.
Private life and rumors Regarding her personal life, Amal Rizk stressed that she does not like to speak about others, and denied the rumors circulating about her. She affirmed that she has never asked any producer for work opportunities and has always relied on her own effort and talent. She also criticized the phenomenon of the rapid rise of some names through social media, questioning who stands behind promoting them.
An early marriage and a message to her daughters She revealed that she married at a young age to a man more than twenty years older than her, separated from him without divorce until his death, and described his passing as a real moment of heartbreak in her life.
She concluded her talk with an emotional message to her daughters, expressing her pride in being known as “the mother of girls,” and saying that the hardest moment for her was when she sat on the sidewalk repeating: “God is sufficient for me, and He is the best disposer of affairs against those who betrayed me.”
