Veteran actor Hussein Fahmy presents a different cinematic experience through his lead role in the Chinese film The Story I Found In China, produced by the global network CGTN.

The filming journey took 17 days, during which “the Prince” traveled across several major Chinese cities, including Beijing, Hangzhou, Suzhou, and Shenzhen, as part of a work documenting the social transformations taking place in contemporary Chinese society.

The film falls under the “docudrama” genre, blending documentary elements with dramatic storytelling. In it, Fahmy portrays an “elderly traveler” who carries the wisdom of experience etched into his years, alongside a quiet inner conflict between strength and vulnerability. He noted that the character deeply resonated with him due to its human depth, reflecting the power of art to build bridges between ancient civilizations such as Egypt and China.

The project goes beyond art, serving as a form of “soft power,” coinciding with preparations for the second Arab–Chinese summit and celebrations marking 70 years of diplomatic relations between Cairo and Beijing. It aims to enhance cultural and media exchange and present a cross-border artistic vision that appeals to both Arab and Asian audiences.

“An Artistic Face” Chinese producer Oe Xiaolan stated that choosing Hussein Fahmy was a tribute to his career spanning over half a century and his status as a well-known artistic figure capable of reaching different generations.

The film brings together a group of Chinese actors, directed by Xiu Wei and produced by Liu Jianjun, and is set to be released soon on CGTN’s global platforms, carrying a cinematic message that reflects the spirit of cultural convergence.
