Moments of joy experienced by a Turkish university student turned into a painful tragedy after a simple birthday celebration ended with her death due to a fatal mistake. The student, named Remziye Horoz, passed away after weeks of severe health complications following her eating a piece of cake during the celebration.

According to Turkish media reports, the student’s friends decided to surprise her with a modest party inside the university dormitory. They purchased a cake especially for the occasion and stressed to the bakery owner that it must be completely free of eggs, as their friend suffered from a severe allergy that could threaten her life.

Despite receiving assurances that the cake was safe, the student began experiencing dangerous symptoms shortly after eating it, including acute breathing difficulties and sudden disruptions in bodily functions, which required her immediate transfer to the hospital.

After approximately twenty days of treatment while in critical condition, her death was announced. Doctors confirmed that the cause of death was severe anaphylactic shock.

The incident sparked widespread outrage on social media platforms, with calls to hold those responsible accountable. Turkish authorities launched an investigation and detained several bakery employees on suspicion of negligence leading to death. Samples of the cake were also sent to specialized laboratories in Istanbul for further testing and to complete the investigation.
