• Decisive matches bring together the giants of Jordanian football

The quarterfinal stage of the Jordan Cup football tournament kicks off on Monday, amid widespread sporting and public anticipation across the kingdom.

The importance of this stage lies in the fact that it represents the critical step toward the “Golden Square,” as the Jordan Football Association has arranged special measures to ensure the progress of matches that bring together the elite of national clubs, under a technical system that relies on direct elimination.

The Jordan Cup is considered the country’s second most important official football competition and holds a prestigious historical position due to its knockout system, making it a stage for surprises and intense competition.

This edition comes at a time when major clubs seek to strengthen their presence in the tournament’s record books and secure a seat in upcoming continental competitions, adding a sense of “national significance” to these football encounters.

According to the schedule announced by the association, the matches will proceed as follows:

First match: Al-Ahli vs. Al-Ramtha opens the round at 4:00 PM at Petra Stadium in Al-Hussein Youth City.

Second match: A football summit between Al-Faisaly and Shabab Al-Urdun at 6:30 PM at King Abdullah II Stadium in Al-Quwaysimah.

Fans are awaiting the announcement of the dates and venues for the remaining two matches, which will see Al-Hussein face Al-Jazeera and Al-Salt face Al-Wehdat.

According to the tournament rules, if the match ends in a draw after regular time, the result will be decided immediately by a penalty shootout.
