Doctor Sentenced to Death by Hanging After Committing a Shocking Crime The crime stemmed from family disputes among relatives

The Criminal Court in Erbil, Kurdistan Region, on Tuesday, issued its verdict against a doctor accused of killing his wife and several family members about nine months ago, in an incident that drew significant public attention in Iraq.

The court sentenced the doctor to death by hanging, and also handed him two life sentences totaling 40 years for charges related to the killing of his wife and her sister using a firearm, according to Iraqi media reports.

Family Disputes

This ruling comes after a series of court sessions examining the case, with authorities indicating that the motives were rooted in family conflicts among relatives.

The incident occurred in March in the "Firman Bran" area of Erbil, resulting in the deaths of four people, including the doctor’s wife and her sister, according to official security sources at the time.

Official sources confirmed that the accused was apprehended immediately after the incident, while authorities launched an investigation to determine all circumstances surrounding the case, which caused shock across Iraqi society.
