The Jordan U-14 women’s national football team secured a deserved 3-1 victory over Iraq in a friendly match held Friday evening at the Federation Stadium in Al-Hussein Youth City.

This important win comes as part of Jordan’s serious preparations ahead of the third West Asia U-14 championship.

Attacking brilliance translates dominance

The national team players delivered an impressive attacking performance, successfully converting their control of the game into three separate goals, confirming the readiness of the Jordanian “U-14s” ahead of their trip to Saudi Arabia.

The goals were scored by three different players: Tulin Obaidat opened the scoring in the 16th minute, followed quickly by Maria Al-Mousa in the 21st minute, and Raghad Harqous completed the winning trio in the 76th minute.

This friendly provided a real opportunity for the coaching staff to assess the players’ level and test different tactics in a competitive setting, especially as this stage represents the final phase of the team’s internal training camp.

Match resumes Sunday as tournament approaches

The friendly between the two teams is expected to resume at 4:00 PM on Sunday, November 16, at the same stadium.

This encounter will be the final match of the internal training camp, allowing the coaching staff to give playing time to other players and finalize the starting lineup ahead of the tournament.

Both matches are part of the team’s preparations for the third West Asia U-14 championship, scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia from December 5 to 13.

Group stage challenge and semi-final competition

The draw placed Jordan in Group B alongside Lebanon and Bahrain, while Group A includes Saudi Arabia, Palestine, and Iraq.

According to the tournament format, teams are divided into two groups, playing a single round-robin in the first stage. The top two teams from each group advance to the semi-finals, making victories in the group stage crucial for competing for the title.

This win marks a positive start for the Jordanian “U-14s” and underscores the ambitious goals of the Jordan Football Association in developing women’s football and building a generation capable of competing regionally and continentally.
