I’ve Been Struggling for 4 Years".. Karen Wazen Worries Her Followers with Her Photos"

Coinciding with World Heart Day on Monday, September 29, Wazen shared photos on Instagram of herself in the hospital bed and at home, documenting her sudden episodes. She accompanied the photos with an awareness message: "I’m sharing this because anyone who has a heart rhythm disorder knows how exhausting it can be. You are not alone, and understanding what’s happening inside your heart can make it feel less scary."
"Not Life-Threatening"
Karen explained that she was diagnosed with this condition four years ago. While it is not life-threatening, it causes sudden and significant increases in her heart rate.
She added about her first episode: "I thought I was having a panic attack because my heart was racing uncontrollably. When my pulse reached about 200 beats per minute, I was rushed to the hospital, and that’s when I received the proper diagnosis."
Techniques to Manage the Condition
Karen also explained: "There are certain techniques to manage the episodes, such as breathing exercises, which can sometimes help lower the heart rate. But the only definitive treatment is a medical procedure called Heart Ablation, which I am still postponing for now."
Regarding how she copes with the condition, she said: "When an SVT episode starts and I can’t stop it with maneuvers, I immediately stop any physical activity and lie down to monitor my pulse with my device, which gives me a sense of control until the episode passes."
On a personal and professional level, Karen Wazen remains one of Lebanon’s prominent content creators, using her platforms to raise awareness about health issues and share her personal experiences, making a significant impact on her followers.
