Nelly Karim: My Children Are My Greatest Gains in Life Nelly Karim: Artists Are More Prone to Depression

Egyptian actress Nelly Karim revealed aspects of her personal and professional life during a media appearance, speaking openly about love and marriage, her relationship with phones and social media, as well as her experience with depression and her views on the new generation of artists, in addition to her hobbies away from acting.

When asked about the possibility of entering a new romantic relationship or getting married again, Karim simply said: “I hope love is always present,” emphasizing that love exists in her life in different forms and does not necessarily have to be tied to a specific person.

She also spoke about the concept of success in her life, noting that success can sometimes be relative, but she considers her children to be her greatest achievements. She added that life often compensates for difficult experiences with beautiful moments.

Karim also addressed her relationship with mobile phones and social media, explaining that it can sometimes be tense, but she loves the camera and photography, believing that her connection to art is stronger than her engagement with social media.

She revealed that actress Yousra is very close to her and that they communicate regularly, often seeking her advice on various matters. She also commented on the controversy surrounding the title “Voice of Egypt” associated with Sherine Abdel-Wahab, noting that the decision was ultimately the director’s, while expressing her admiration for both Sherine and Angham and stressing that she does not pay much attention to social media comments.

Karim also discussed the issue of photographing artists in private situations and publishing those images online, stressing the need for clear laws to hold violators accountable, especially with the rapid development of artificial intelligence technologies that make protecting privacy more difficult.

Speaking about her experience with depression, she explained that artists may be more vulnerable to it due to their emotional sensitivity, but she now prefers to focus on work and self-development rather than surrendering to negative feelings.

She also expressed her admiration for working with the new generation of artists, including Amir El-Masry, Salma Abu Deif, Huda El-Mufti, and Yasmina El-Abd, praising Yasmina’s talent in singing and performing.

On another note, Karim revealed her passion for handicrafts, explaining that she enjoys sewing and fashion design and had even designed some dresses herself in earlier stages of her life.
