• Dangerous trend in Egypt during Ramadan puts children at risk

A risky challenge has recently gone viral on social media in Egypt, involving children and teenagers setting a dish scrubber wire on fire and spinning it to create sparks, while filming videos to attract views and online engagement.

Although some see it as a harmless game or experiment, the trend has become a serious hazard to both participants and passersby. Several injuries have already been reported, including a severe case involving two-year-old Omar, who was burned while walking with his mother in the street.

Eyewitnesses said a group of youths lit the wire and spun it, causing the flames to quickly catch the child’s clothing and severely burn large areas of his body. He was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment.

Experts warn that this dangerous trend not only causes serious physical injuries but also leads to psychological trauma and extreme fear among children, emphasizing the dangers of repeating such risky practices.
