Min Hunna Nabda - The Supreme Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities answers: What are the alternatives after the closure of the shelter center?

The Ministry of Social Development and the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities issued a joint statement affirming their commitment to transforming residential care services into inclusive services, as part of the alternative care plans stemming from the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

The statement clarified that social inclusion is a constitutional right for persons with disabilities, and that the traditional residential care system has proven to have negative psychological and social effects, while national experiences have demonstrated the success of integrating beneficiaries with their families or foster families.

Both parties affirmed their commitment to providing legislative alternatives, field follow-up services, and financial assistance to families, while ensuring comprehensive care for severe cases. They emphasized that the inclusion option represents an irreversible strategic direction.
