- Game kickoff delayed after unexpected stadium incident
- Emergency crews step in quickly to resolve situation safely
A surprising incident occurred at “Lane Stadium” at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in the United States, after a man carrying out a parachute jump collided with the scoreboard before a college American football exhibition game on Saturday, delaying the start of the match.
University officials said on the “X” platform that the man was quickly secured after the incident and is in stable condition following the response of emergency teams at the scene.
They added that their “main focus remains on his health,” praising the swift and professional response of first responders, medical staff, and event organizers.
In a later update, the university confirmed that the rapid intervention of rescue teams safely brought him down to the ground without injuries.
Video footage showed the parachute landing on top of the scoreboard, where it became caught between the letters “C” and “H” in the Virginia Tech logo, before he was safely rescued by emergency crews.
