"Karmouz Crime" continues to occupy the Egyptian street Reports say the father was affected by the death of his wife and children

Details are escalating in one of the most horrific cases that shook the Egyptian street, known in the media as the "Karmouz Crime," as the tragedy continues to dominate social media, amid a state of shock and grief that has not subsided since the first threads of the case were revealed.

In the latest developments, a source close to the investigation—not the lawyer—revealed that the father of the accused Rayan, who was involved in killing his mother and five siblings inside their apartment in Alexandria, later died in Jordan, deeply affected by grief and shock over what happened to his family. The source confirmed that the man had left Egypt to work in Jordan after separating from his wife and leaving his children, before the shock of the crime reached him and turned his life upside down.

The case, which preoccupied public opinion, began when security forces in Alexandria received a report about a young man attempting to end his life by jumping from the top of a building in the Karmouz area. Security forces immediately moved to the scene, where they found the young man “Rayan. W. M” (21 years old) with cuts and wounds after being restrained by residents and later handed over to the authorities.

As investigations deepened, the authorities uncovered shocking details, finding in the suspect’s possession items believed to have been used in the incident, including razor blades and a pillow cover, which were seized for examination and comparison with biological evidence, in an effort to uncover the full truth.

The suspect was also presented to specialized authorities to assess his mental condition, as part of the investigation process, and was transferred to Abbassia Hospital in Cairo for the necessary examinations, pending further medical reports.
