In a clip that quickly drew attention, the president appeared to mix up Conway—who served as senior adviser from 2017 to 2020—with his current press secretary, Karoline Leavitt.

During the speech, Trump addressed Conway directly, asking the audience: “And of course Kellyanne Conway, has anyone heard of her?” He added: “She’s fantastic, she’s fighting in there. A friend of mine said, ‘You know that Kellyanne, I admire the way she goes in there and shouts at those people’”—referring to the media.
