Elderly Woman, 72, Found Dead in Tragic Theft-Related Crime

A 72-year-old elderly woman, born in 1951 with a medical history, was found dead inside her home in the eastern part of the capital, according to the spokesperson of the Public Security Directorate. Her body was transferred to the National Forensic Medicine Center, where investigations into the circumstances of her death began.

The autopsy report from the National Forensic Medicine Center indicated a criminal suspicion behind the death, clarifying that the cause of death was suffocation resulting from airway obstruction.

Following the autopsy results, the Security Directorate formed an investigative team from the Criminal Investigation Division and the Capital Region to collect evidence and examine the crime scene. The investigation focused on a relative of the victim, her grandson, who was subsequently arrested.

During questioning, the grandson confessed to strangling his grandmother with the intent to steal. The case has been referred to the judiciary to take legal action against him.

Activists on social media expressed outrage over the crime, mourning the victim with heartfelt messages and praying for her mercy and forgiveness. Many called for the maximum penalty for the perpetrator, describing his act as a "betrayal of humanity."
