The First October Misdemeanor Court sentenced actor Mahmoud Hegazy to six months in prison with a bail of 5,000 Egyptian pounds, following allegations that he physically assaulted his wife, Rana Tarek.

The case sparked widespread debate recently after both parties exchanged accusations regarding the incident.

The ruling came after Tarek filed a complaint accusing her husband of hitting and dragging her, resulting in several bruises across her body.

A forensic report detailed injuries to her nose, left forehead, left arm, and left eye, prompting her to see an ophthalmologist to monitor her condition.

Hegazy, for his part, denied the allegations and stated that he prefers not to discuss his personal life at this time out of respect for their child.

He wrote on Facebook:"Out of respect for our son Youssef, I will remain silent. I swear, she is doing all this to take my son and leave Egypt, trying to use any court ruling to force me to allow his travel. I avoid engaging with what circulates on social media, but I look at the situation considering our child. Respecting myself, my son, and his mother, I will not speak on details outside their proper context. This is not to defame anyone, only to clarify. That’s enough—God is our witness and protector."
