A man was arrested after attempting to evade a traffic stop in Huber Heights, Ohio, by hiding inside a garbage bin. The incident was captured on a police dashcam and quickly spread on social media.
According to a police statement on social media, an officer had pulled over the vehicle, but the driver fled on foot when he got out.
The suspect was identified as 27-year-old Jonathan McMillan. For a short time, the officer lost sight of him before securing the area.
Dashcam footage shows a sanitation worker opening the garbage bin lid, quickly stepping back, and pointing inside, just before McMillan emerged and continued running as the police car approached.
The police joked on social media: “Thanks to luck, ‘Angry Oscar’—as we’ve nicknamed him—appeared at the right place at the right time.”
McMillan ran several blocks before being apprehended. Authorities thanked Officer Perez for his quick response and physical ability, which helped safely detain the suspect.
McMillan is being held at the Montgomery County Jail on charges of obstruction and resisting arrest, in addition to having an outstanding warrant from Miami County. Police also noted that he received a warning for the traffic violation that led to the stop.
