The Mali national team pulled off a huge shock by eliminating Tunisia from the round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, in the match hosted at "Mohammed V" Stadium in Casablanca, which was decided by penalties after a 1-1 draw following normal and extra time.

Despite Mali’s early numerical disadvantage following the red card of Yeo Koulibaly in the 26th minute, the team showed great defensive resilience against Tunisia’s repeated attempts.
