Release of Shajon Al-Hajri in June Arrest of Shajon Al-Hajri with Prohibited Substances

The Court of Criminal Justice in Kuwait decided to place the artist Shajon Al-Hajri in one of the specialized rehabilitation centers for addiction treatment, for a period not exceeding one year.

The Public Prosecution in Kuwait had released Al-Hajri in June on a bail of 200 Kuwaiti Dinars and instructed that she be placed under medical supervision for treatment and recovery.

The Public Prosecution issued a statement without mentioning the name of the Kuwaiti artist, indicating that she was released on bail and placed under medical supervision.

The decision came after the arrest of the Kuwaiti artist with a quantity of prohibited substances for personal use. Al-Hajri appeared in images published by the authorities, sitting on the ground with her hands tied, in front of the prohibited substances, which the Ministry confirmed were for personal use.

Death of Shajon Al-Hajri’s Father

The crises continued in Shajon’s life, as she announced in October the death of her father, Matar Al-Hajri, after a long struggle with illness.

Shajon posted on her official Instagram account a mourning message: "Indeed we belong to God, and indeed to Him we shall return… the heart grieves and the eye sheds tears, and we say only what pleases God… My dear father Matar Al-Hajri has passed away. May God have mercy on him and forgive him."

She also mourned her father with heartfelt words and prayers: "O Allah, forgive Matar Al-Hajri, have mercy on him, pardon him, honor his dwelling, expand his entrance, wash him with water, snow, and hail, cleanse him of sins as a white garment is cleansed of filth, give him a better home than his home, better family than his family, and admit him to Paradise."
