Iraqi international Ayman Hussein checked on the Jordanian star’s health after knee surgery
Iraqi international Ayman Hussein, attacker for the Iraqi national team, visited Jordanian national team star Yazan Al-Naeemat to check on his condition following a successful knee surgery to repair a torn cruciate ligament, in a sports gesture reflecting camaraderie among regional football stars beyond competitive rivalries.
The visit highlighted solidarity with Al-Naeemat during his extended absence from the pitch, with Hussein offering moral support and wishing him a speedy recovery.
The Jordanian sports community breathed a sigh of relief after official confirmation of the precise and successful surgery at the world-class “Aspetar” hospital in Doha on Wednesday morning.
Al-Naeemat (26) had suffered the injury during the “Derby Epic” quarterfinal against Iraq, which ended 1-0 in Jordan’s favor. Despite his fighting spirit to push through pain, he had to leave the pitch at the 13th minute, replaced by young substitute Awda Al-Fakhouri.
His absence deals a painful blow to Jordan’s attack, particularly the formidable duo of Al-Naeemat and Mousa Al-Tamari, which was key to their historic World Cup qualification and Asian achievements. The injury also temporarily stalls his professional career amid serious negotiations with Egyptian club Al-Ahly for his transfer.
