China has launched a unique live TV channel exclusively for pets, operated by the Chinese tech giant Tencent.
Cats and dogs can now enjoy videos throughout the day—watching a duck swim in a bathtub or two dogs roaming the neighborhood—keeping them entertained while their owners are away.
The channel is available on Tencent Video, China’s largest streaming platform, with colors, frame arrangements, and sound carefully designed to appeal to cats’ and dogs’ senses.
Tencent noted that 66% of dog owners in China leave the TV on for their pets when they are not home.
The broadcast will also feature content from other services, such as the American DogTV, the world’s first dedicated TV channel and streaming service for pets.
The urban pet market in China is projected to reach about 405 billion yuan (around $59 billion) by 2028. Last year, Chinese families spent more than 3,000 yuan per dog and over 2,000 yuan per cat on pet care.
