The Third Criminal Court in the city of Homs issued a verdict sentencing two individuals to death by hanging, after convicting them of killing a goldsmith and stealing approximately three kilograms of gold, in addition to a sum of money estimated at two million Syrian pounds, from his shop in the city’s gold market.
Judge Riyad Jadi‘, in televised statements, said that the convicted men, Mansour Ismail and Ali Mohammad, committed the murder with the intention of facilitating the robbery. He noted that both defendants fully confessed to the crime during the investigations, which led to the issuance of the death sentence against them.

The judge confirmed that the swift adjudication of the case was met with widespread relief among the victim’s family and the residents of Homs, who viewed the ruling as a deterrent to anyone contemplating the commission of such crimes, particularly in light of the recent increase in theft and murder cases.
